GloNations' Groovy Glow Worms
Making Glow in the dark soft plastic worms is very easy. Follow the instructions below and you can make some lures that really pop and catch some big fish. Glow in the dark lures will help when you are in very murky water. It is also has a great application for ice fishing when fish are dormant and you are trying to get them to strike. The light triggers the strike reflex in the fish and causes them to hit. You can find great soft plastic worm making kits from Barlows Tackle, Zeiners, and M-F Plastics.
1. Items you will need - Worm Mold, liquid plastic and plastic color. If you use color make sure it has significant transparency, and use sparingly. Small aluminum pan, spoon and hot plate or kitchen stove. Pan should have a pouring spout.
2. Mixing - Pour plastic into pan (1 oz. makes six worms). Heat slowly until liquid thickens and turns clear (approximately 350 degrees F). Stir frequently. Continue heating until liquid reaches pouring consistency which will be clear and thin. Do not over heat. It will smell up the place and may catch on fire. This is not to be done by children!!!
3. Add Color - Add color to obtain desired shade. After your add color, Add GloNation’s Glow in the Dark Powder. Stir well, 1/4 oz. of powder is good for the six worms 1 ounce of color will color one gallon of plastic.
4. Pour Worms - Pour plastic into mold. Fill cavity full until it almost crowns over. Wipe plastic from the lip of the pan before reheating to prevent contract with burners which causes excessive smoking and nasty smell.
5. Remove Worms form the Mold - Allow worm to cool in mold for five minutes. They must be slightly cured to remove. Do not do it early because you will have goo on your hands. Remove and place in shallow pan of water to finish cooling.
